We need to rethink how we are speaking about and enacting STEAM if we don’t want the same inequities in STEM to persist. The current discourse of STEAM seems to privilege design/engineering ways of thinking; product-oriented approaches rather than engaging in art/science for the process itself. The latter will produce more creative ways of thinking and diverse approaches to problem-solving.
